Why is it important to offer services in Brighton?

Brighton and Hove has one of the highest rates of reported sexual offences in the UK:

62,000 sexual offences (including rape) are reported each year in the UK. 1000 offences are reported in Sussex alone

Around a quarter of rapes reported in Sussex occur in Brighton and Hove

Almost half of reported rapes are committed against the most vulnerable in our society for example children, the elderly and those with mental health issues or disabilities

1 in 4 women and 1 in 8 men experience some form of sexual violation in their lifetime

Sexual violation can affect anyone irrespective of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, social class, employment or disability.

There are a large number of people in the local area who desperately need support to overcome their experiences and we at LifeCentre undertake to provide all the support we can to help people overcome their trauma and rebuild their lives.
