Third Party Reporting

A third party report is a form that you can fill out that details the rape/sexual assault that you have suffered. This is then submitted to Sussex Police via the Lifecentre. Your identity to the police is not revealed.

If you are a client at Lifecentre, we suggest that you talk through your decision with your counsellor about reporting to begin with. He or she can also help you with completing the form.

What happens in a third party report?

In a third party report, you can give as much detail as you like about the offender/s and what occured, without revealing your identity.

Lifecentre keeps your name and contact details confidential so the police cannot contact you directly or interview you.

Because the contact details are confidential, the police cannot investigate the crime nor can they arrest the offender/s

The police can use the information you give them as intelligence and to see if it matches with other reports they may have had against the same person or maybe with the same way of attacking

If it does, they can relay this information back to you via us at Lifecentre.

When we pass this form onto Sussex police it gets recorded as a 000/20 report. Sussex Police have agreed that the information within this report is not to be investigated, as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding that exists between Sussex Police and the Lifecentre.

Do I need to be a Lifecentre client to do this?

It is easier if you are client first. Lifecentre offers this option to all our face to face clients after a few weeks of counselling.

However, if you are not a client, then you can still fill in the third party reporting form and email it to us or post it with your name and contact details.

Your contact details are for our records only, we will not pass these on to the police. When we receive your form we will give you a reference number, and send off your report to the police with this number. We may then be in contact with you again if we have any feedback from the police.

If you are not a client and would like to submit a third party report, please contact our office so that we can help you.
