One day the tight-furled bud
Fulfils its promise with a bloom.

One day the hidden spring
Bursts gushing through the earth.

One day the sleepy chrysalis
sets free her joyous butterfly.

And one day the little girl
Puts on a pretty dress,
dances into the sunshine-
unashamed,
unafraid
and proudly calls herself "woman"
